Russell County Kentucky: Russell and surrounding counties have seen several unsolved crimes including murder, missing children, and dozens of burglaries of local drug stores just to name a few.
Recently Bobby Bunch was shot and killed when he went to a home to pick up his girlfriend Nikki Abrell. She called him and had asked that he come and pick her up at Michael Compton’s apartment.
The parties are all involved in the long and sometimes incredible Grider Drug and Leon Grider criminal charges. In 2004, Grider Drug has suffered more than a dozen burglaries and rarely, if ever was anyone caught. In the few cases where someone was apprehended; the drugs found at the scene were given to the physical custody of Russell Springs Police Chief Joe Michael Irvin and have never been seen again. Further, since Irvin has never released any police reports on any burglaries- Grider Drug has never been able to turn any of those events into their insurance company for compensation.
On December 28th, 2007 almost 2 years to the day before Bunch was killed; Bobby Bunch made a call to James Faller of the Defense team defending the now dismissed Russell County charges against Leon Grider. Identical charges are still pending in Adair County. Charges against Leon Grider were filed in both counties by KSP detective Scott Hammond and Irvin. The two together claimed Leon Grider was distributing drugs in exchange for sexual favors.
However, Hammond recently testified in federal court that he really pressed the women around Grider about the issue. Not a single female has ever told Hammond about having sex with Grider which Hammond admitted under federal testimony.
The criminal charges against Leon Grider were filed immediately after Leon and Anna Mae Grider filed a civil lawsuit against Hammond and Irvin for making false statewide news releases against Leon Grider.
When Bunch contacted Faller in 2007 it was to inform him that Bunch could account for 10,000 pills stolen from Grider Drug and that none of them were ever returned to Grider Drug. This fact has recently been testified to by other witnesses at federal hearings. During the interview, Bunch tells Faller he could have gone free if he would have been willing to tell Irvin that Leon Grider was in on the burglaries. Bunch made it clear that Grider had no knowledge or involvement in the burglaries. Bunch also informed Faller it was Irvin that was in possession of the stolen drugs.
Astonishingly, sworn testimony in Russell Circuit Court in front of Special Judge Gary Payne; Howard Miller, the father of Nikki Abrell’s three children testified how Hammonds and Irvins confidential informants (CI’s) Leah Wilson and Phillip Grider used Miller and Abrells house telephone to attempt to blackmail Leon Grider. Further, Wilson and Phillip Grider are the confidential informants who have testified against Leon Grider.
When Miller found out what Wilson and Phillip Grider were using his telephone for, he threw them out of his home. However, that is when Miller testified that problems for him and Abrell began. After that, Miller testified that Irvin asked him to “take someone out”. Miller told Judge Payne that he considered this request by Irvin to be a request to murder someone.
Now Miller is out of the picture and Abrell is involved with the death of a potential witness against Irvin. This same witness who puts stolen drugs in the hands of Russell Springs Police Chief Joe Michael Irvin. Is it a coincidence? Listen for yourself.

This is incredible. Bobby was a good person with a bad problem. This Nicky chick is another story. Bad news and she has been Joe michaels slave for a while. Any questions?

It seems to me that Bobby was a smart person just got mixed up with the wrong woman. Mr. Hammonds I don’t belive would put someone up to lie. Im sorry if people hate me for that but Mr Hammonds has alwats been been a good detective as as far as I know.

I read you comments with interest. Now that all charges have been dismissed against Mr. Grider, he should be able to obtain the police reports via Kentucky Open Records statutes.
Should try. He has nothing to lose.
Last but not least, every member of the city counsel and the mayor should be voted out of office.ASAP!

Bobby was my brother. He did have his problems, but he was a big hearted person. He was murdered and they say it was justified, but murder is never justified. If it could be then why do they call it murder? He did go to pick up Nikki that night at Michael Comptons house. I am telling you this stuff for a fact because I got his phone a week after Bobby died. Nikki is a piece of crap. She had my brother shot so she could be compensated by someone,I just don’t know who yet. But I will find out.
